Referrals

Create EI Hub referral intakes, add authorizations, and begin active coordination.

A referral is an EI Hub intake episode attached to a child record. Creating a referral creates the child root immediately in referral stage, and the episode stays available for reporting even if EI Hub assigns another agency.

Adding a referral

Choose New referral from the Children list and enter the same basic child information you would use on a child record. This creates one child record plus a linked EI Hub referral episode.

Acting on a referral

From Children → Referrals view, use the child actions:

  • Add authorization from EI Hub: enter the EI Hub authorization number, service details, received date, and assigned coordinator. This creates the first authorization and moves the linked child from referral stage into active coordination.
  • Close referral: keep the referral for analytics, but remove it from the open intake queue. Use this when EI Hub assigns another agency, the family withdraws, or the row was entered in error.
  • Open child: opens the child record attached to the referral episode.

After authorization

Adding the first EI Hub authorization starts active work on the child record:

  • The child's details on Basic Information.
  • Insurance.
  • The required consent forms.
  • The authorization row on Ongoing Care, where Service details is the label used to distinguish duplicate service types.

The original referral remains linked for EI Hub traceability and future analytics.
